Torre Dell’Angelo is a historical Abruzzian house which belonged to a local Baron and where peasants lived and cultivated the land. The house is more than 200 years old and we renovated it using recuperated materials and preserving historical details. We furnished the house with the traditional antiques of the region, creating a sense of traveling back in time.

We have three apartments outside the house and two more rooms inside. Read below to learn more about accommodation options and common areas that you can use.

Apartments and Rooms

We have three apartments here, located outside the house on the ground floor. Each of them has its own separate entrance from the outside, two covered terraces and an individual exit to its own garden. Two apartments also have a small kitchen. Inside the house on the first floor there are two more rooms. They also have their own independent entrance. We pay special attention to the quality of your sleep. Therefore, each room is built with sound insulation and equipped with good mattresses, comfortable bedding and luxury bed linen. You will always feel comfortable in our house, because we built it with high energy efficiency. It is not hot in summer and not cold in winter.

Tower

The family that lived in our house ran a farm, raised animals and cultivated  the land. The owner of the house had a passion for drawing and making wooden crafts. It became clear as soon as we entered the tower for the first time, the vault of which was decorated with an angel’s fresco and a picture of a road lined with olive trees. Therefore, we planted olive trees along the road in the first spring, and decorated the arches of the tower in the next one. The Angel fresco gave the new name to the house: Angel’s Tower (Torre dell’Angelo in Italian).

Kitchen

Historically, the kitchen was the social center and one of the most important areas of the house. At Torre Dell’Angelo, the kitchen is located on the ground floor and tells the story of a traditional Italian kitchen of Abruzzo with antique copper tableware, kitchen utensils, and a historic stone sink.

Cantina

No Italian experience would be complete without a wine and cheese degustation. In our house, the Cantina is the room where all the wine and cheese magic happens! The Cantina is located under the traditional external staircase of the house. In the past, the room served as a place to keep small animals. Today, it’s a wine storage room and is a splendid setting for relaxing get-togethers with other wine lovers for tasting events of local cheese, “salumi” and of course of the famous Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.

 

Arched hall

Where the living and dining rooms are today, in older days there used to be a stall for large animals, the “heating center” of the house. The warm air from the animals’ bodies rose up and served as the heating for the next floor, where the living quarters were located. The cross-arches and other elements of rural architecture remain part of the Hall to this day, preserving the traditional style so unique to Abruzzo houses.  And although the fireplace is a recent addition, this room looks almost the same as 200 years ago.

Swimming pool

We organized our 6 x 12 meter pool among olive trees overlooking the Gran Sasso massif. You can enjoy the sunset if you go swimming in the evening.
